Suction still going strong!!!

These Taffagle II's are such good little eaters... their suckers are superb and the milk supply and quality must be excellent because they are most certainly chubby little pups. So... a sleep deprived thought popped into my head this morning... a litter theme on suction! Suction cup, Plunger, Vacuumed sealed, Air Vac...
NAH... doesn't work...but I got a chuckle.. definitely that lack of sleep thing and you must be in the same state of mind to find it funny... Ah well...

And the Verdict Is....

Pups are growing by leaps and bounds, weights are all close to a pound or slightly over. I finally got some real sleep and had my glasses on when weighing pups today. AND... the verdict is in on COLOR!!!

Four Boys (3 Black, 1 Liver)
Three Girls (All Liver)

Black is still recessive at my house! : ) Go LIVERS!!! : )

We Made It Through The Night...

Yesterday was a bad storm day in Kansas... worst conditions for possible tornados in years... we were ready all down in basement with our most valuables... the dogs. We were very fortunate and just lots of rain and some wind. No damage. Other parts of KS were not so fotunate.

But back to a happier note, pups are really doing well and thriving. Taffy is an excellent mother. Such a smart girl, makes everything so much easier. And I finally got some sleep last night!

More later...

1 Day Old!

Pups are doing great! Weights are increasing from birth. All have good suction...LOL.. and are strong little buggars! This is so exciting. Taffy is doing great and is an excellent mom. Spotting will start coming in the fur around 2 weeks of age.

The Morning After...

If you can call it that... I went to bed last night (this morning) at 5:19 a.m. woke up at 6:15 a.m. to some baby squeaking, let Taffy out to potty and then laid back down for 40 more minutes. I got up and cleaned, changed blanket and wiped Taffy off. Made coffee... now Taffy is sleeping and I am watching pups. I told her to sleep now and I will take a turn next.

Taffy ended up with 7 puppies! Four boys and 3 girls. No patches. There are both livers and blacks. Which ones? Too soon to tell for sure. Pups are all strong, healthy and beautiful.

11:00 p.m. 1st puppy - Boy - 12 1/8 oz
11:43 p.m. 2nd puppy - Boy - 12 5/8 oz
12:09 a.m. 3rd puppy - Girl - 9 3/4 oz

They are here! Yea!

The first pup was born at 11 p.m. At 1:43 a.m. Taffy is up to 3 boys and 2 girls, no patches. I know there is at least one more in there, but she is taking a break and resting. Pups are all strong and nursing very well... little chow hounds!

The Wait....

Taffy started being generally restless, nesting and panting on an off yesterday late afternoon. She proceeded to do so all night long... and now she is sleeping soundly and I am a ZOMBIE! I think I will go lie down by her and take a nap too. Have to be prepared for a long day waiting for the little ones to arrive...
